President’s Letter

Dear Neighbors,

Although it’s been almost five months since the Farrell Building Company described its plans at our Annual Meeting, the process has continued with the City’s Planning Board.  Recently, the Planning Board decided to require the developer to prepare a full Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).  This process is a state-mandated requirement for sites designated as environmentally sensitive sites.

The first step is the Scoping Process in which the Planning Board will outline the things it wishes the Developer to consider in its submittal.  After the Planning Board issues its document, residents will have an opportunity to submit in writing their own concerns and recommendations to be included in the Scoping Process.  We will keep the neighborhood apprised of anything issued by the Planning Board as well as deadlines for submission of letters.

Separately, representatives of the Gedney Board met informally with City officials to discuss our preliminary thoughts and concerns with the Farrell subdivision plan. Our concerns were based on the letters we earlier submitted to the respective City Departments but focused on two key areas:  drainage and traffic.  The City’s officials understood our concerns and they are expected to submit their reports to the Planning Board soon.

The Board would like to wish all residents of Gedney Farms an enjoyable Spring!

Regards,
John E. Sheehan
President
