Throughout the course of the last two and half years since the French American School of New York submitted their application to build their educational campus on the former Ridgeway Country Club property, the board members of the Gedney Association and many other members of our community have worked diligently to oppose the project in a professional and effective manner. There are many talented people who have stepped forward and, if you had occasion to attend or view the public hearings last fall, you saw some of these people in action.
As many of you may recall, because of the importance of stopping the project from going forward and the complicated nature of the State environmental review process, it has been necessary to hire experts to assist us. Professionals in the area of hydrology, traffic impacts, noise and air pollution as well as legal expertise in municipal planning have been hired. Through the generosity of many of you, we have been able to pay all of our bills to this point. Thank you very much!
However, we have now entered a new phase in the approval/denial process for the FASNY application. The latest submission of the Draft Final Environmental Impact Statement (DFEIS) has modified FASNY’s plan considerably. These changes have forced us to consult with our experts again and to a greater extent than we had hoped. And, we need additional resources to pay the bills. Please consider making a contribution to help defray these costs. We have made great strides in making your voices heard to the Mayor and Council. We now need to finish the job.
